Position Title: Marine Fiberglass & Gelcoat Technician
Compensation/Rate: $24.00 to $30.00
Location: Amesbury, MA
Position Summary:
New England Marine & Fiberglass located in Amesbury, Ma is looking for qualified candidates who have fiberglass and gelcoat experience including applying and finishing gelcoat.
We have openings for serious, confident technicians who take pride in a job done cleanly and efficiently, who are seeking permanent, full-time employment and the opportunity to develop and grow with marine industry leader.
As a member of our Fiberglass & Gelcoat Department, you must have a strong knowledge of lamination, lay‐up, one‐ off parts and general fiberglass repairs. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, repairing fiberglass cosmetic blemishes and major damages. In addition, taking responsibility, maintaining flexibility, and safely performing multiple duties and tasks while contributing to the success of the organization as a high‐performing team member are all requirements to satisfactory meet our job expectations.
Job Responsibilities:
· Identify defects such as: cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws.
· Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management.
· Grind out defective areas, smooth rough edges/areas by using appropriate power or hand‐tools.
· Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair.
· Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly.
· Mix Gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces.
· Buff and polish repaired surfaces.
