The Landing School Final Closure and Auction Information

October 9, 2026

Dear Friends, Alumni, and Supporters of The Landing School,

There are some letters that are difficult to write, and this is certainly one of them. Over the last several months, the Board of Trustees carefully considered a myriad of options and pursued multiple avenues in an effort to find a viable path forward for The Landing School. These efforts included exploring a range of proposals, potential partnerships, and other opportunities that might have allowed the School to continue its mission. Despite these efforts and a sincere commitment to finding a sustainable solution, the Board was ultimately unable to identify a viable path to keeping The Landing School open.

For generations of students, TLS was a place where they learned to build with their hands, solve problems, work as a team, and take pride in what they created. For faculty and staff, it was a place where we had the privilege of watching students learn and grow. And for our alumni, donors, employers, volunteers, and friends, it was a school worth believing in.

The legacy of The Landing School will carry on in the boats our graduates built, the businesses they started, the skills they brought to their careers, the people they mentored, and the countless lives they touched.

As part of the closing process, The Landing School will be holding two auctions through Keenan Auction Company (Richard J. Keenan #236) – one for the contents of the building and another for the property/real estate.  We hope that many of these tools and pieces of equipment will find new homes where they can continue to be used to build, teach, create, and inspire.  Please find auction details below.

The online auction includes a collection of equipment accumulated over the years, including woodworking, welding and fabrication equipment, CNC machinery, marine manufacturing equipment, vessels, rolling stock, tools, classroom furnishings, and office equipment. Please note property preview days below.

Among the highlights are a Crown forklift, MultiCam CNC router, SCM and Laguna woodworking equipment, SawStop table saw, Miller and Lincoln welders, Powermatic and Grizzly equipment, Festool tools and dust extractors, air compressors and dust-collection systems, a finishing booth, gantry and hoist equipment, and an Instron 5582 universal testing machine.

To everyone who has been part of The Landing School's journey—our students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, employers, volunteers, families, and friends—thank you!  We have created an album of photographs representing The Landing School's history. We hope these images will bring back warm memories and remind us of the people and moments that made TLS so special.
