The boatyard on Naushon Island has a position available for a multitalented boatyard employee with wooden boat restoration & maintenance experience. Must be a self starter able to work independently and efficiently, and take a job from start to finish. Recreational opportunities on the island include: Miles of hiking and bicycling trails. A prime boating and fishing location. A unique, largely undeveloped natural environment to explore. Job summary
• Repair, maintenance and rigging work requests on clients sail and power boats
• Maintenance of the 4 company Hereshoffs 12½’s which includes: prepping, sanding, varnishing and painting
• Assists with the maintenance and repair of grounds, structures/facilities associated with the boatyard (buildings, launch ramps, floats, docks)
• Serves as a member of our fire, emergency response and oil spill teams. Minimum requirements
• Proficient in wood boat repair
• Experience with marine varnish & paint application
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Ability to complete jobs with minimal direct supervision while maintaining efficiency and work quality.
Desirable skills
• Computer literacy (Word and QuickBooks)
• Power and sail boat operation Experience operating yard machinery
