Position Title: Carpenter, Mechanic and Electrician

Location: Beaufort, North Carolina

Department: New Construction/Service Department

Job Title: Carpenter


Primary Responsibilities:
• Interpret mechanical line drawings
• Fashion and install dimensional or plywood systems in/on hull
• Coordinate with other crafts to facilitate efficient construction
• Nurture relationship with Foreman/Leadman and Project Manager
• Meet installation deadlines
• Manage time within schedule
• Provide own tools to accomplish tasks
• Maintain own tools
• Sand, shape, epoxy layers as directed by Foreman/Leadman
• Systems include:
o Hull jigs
o Keel
o Stringers
o Ribbands
o Bulkheads
o Planking
o Prop wells
o Any other system desired by owner

Skills:
• Comprehensive knowledge of US and metric measurement system and standards
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Recognize and voice conflicts in proposed versus actual installation and offer solutions to such conflicts

Training:
• High school diploma/GED
• Valid driver’s license
• 2 years technical or community college OR 2 years OJT OR 2 years related work experience in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Directly related courses a plus

Job Type: Full Time
Starting Pay Range: $15-20/hour

Job Title: Mechanic/Plumber


Primary Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and install mechanical systems in hull
• Coordinate with other crafts to facilitate efficient construction
• Nurture relationship with Foreman and Project Manager
• Meet installation deadlines
• Manage time within schedule
• Provide own tools to accomplish tasks
• Maintain own tools
• Test, troubleshoot, and prove function of installed systems, which include

o Shaft logs and seals
o Struts and bearings
o Shafting, couplings, and alignment
o Tanks and piping
o Steering
o Thrusters bow/stern
o Main engines, mounts, and controls
o Auxiliary engines, mounts and controls
o HVAC
o Ice makers and refrigeration
o Potable water
o Grey water
o Black water
o Oil
o Hydraulic and fuel systems
o Fin stabilizers
o Kitchen appliances
o Any other systems desired by owner

Skills:
• Comprehensive knowledge of US and metric measurement system and standards
• Working knowledge of ABYC standards and applicable OSHA standards
• Working knowledge of marine propulsion and electric generation systems
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Recognize and voice conflicts in proposed versus actual installation and offer solutions to such conflicts

Training:

• Valid driver’s license
• 2 years technical or community college OR 2 years OJT OR 2 years related work experience in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Directly related courses
• ABYC certification is a plus

Job Title: Marine Electrician

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide own tools to accomplish tasks

o Generators
o Switchboards
o Shore tie connections
o Lighting
o Motors
o Fans
o Load sharing
o Controls
o Auxiliary systems
o Appliances
o Other systems desired by owner

Skills:
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical theory and standards
• Working knowledge of ABYC standards and applicable OSHA and US Coast Guard standards
• Working knowledge of electric generations systems
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Recognize and voice conflicts in proposed versus actual installation and offer solutions to such conflicts

Training:
• High school diploma/GED
• Valid driver’s license
• 2 years technical or community college OR 2 years OTJ OR 2 years related work experience in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Directly related courses
• ABYC certification is a plus
