Position Title: Carpentry Foreman

Compensation/Rate: Will depend on experience and skills. To mid Thirties per hour

Location: Southwest Harbor, Maine

Position Summary:

Carpentry Foreman- SWH Reporting to: Operations Manager

Position Summary
Carpentry Foreman is responsible to direct and coordinate the efforts of an assigned team of trade workers ensuring the on-time delivery of quality service to customers while maintaining the safety, efficiency, quality, readiness, and positive environment of the department, by performing the following typical duties:

1. Based on direction from Manager, scheduling and assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the team.
2. Providing estimates hours and materials to complete new work orders.
3. Reporting to Manager on status and progress of work, scope changes, and causes of work delays.
4. Working along with other workers, setting the pace, and leading by example.
5. Demonstrating and directing workers on proper work methods, training and orienting new workers.
6. Making sure that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
7. Obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisors/managers on problems that come up during the performance of the job.
8. Maintaining a current knowledge, and answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other rules.
9. Inspecting work while in progress and when completed to see whether the instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, quality, and deadlines have been met.
10. Instructing and advising team members to follow instructions received from Manager, and to meet deadlines within planned hours.
11. Assuring that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (for example, assuring that limits of safe machine operation are not exceeded and that all tools are used properly);
12. Answering questions of Manager on overall work operations and problems (for example, concerning, additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).
13. Maintaining a positive work environment, and performing miscellaneous other duties as assigned.
Skill and Knowledge: Foreman must possess the knowledge and skills associated with their assigned trade specialty in addition to the ability to exercise sound judgment, lead, organize, train, monitor, track and report on members and work activities of their team. Strong verbal and written communications, and interpersonal relations skills are also required.
Physical Effort: Workers are frequently required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods and bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. They frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items that weigh up to 40 pounds. They are sometimes required to lift and move heavier items with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
