Job Summary: Diesel Technicians inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair diesel engines and marine drive systems. Safe Harbor Great Island is an authorized dealer and service center for Volo Penta, Volvo IPS, Cummins, Mercruiser Diesel, Yanmar and Westerbeke.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspect, troubleshoot maintain, and repair multiple OEM brands of diesel engines on boats of all kinds

• Conduct all facets of engine repower projects

• Basic knowledge of rigging to remove and install engines and transmissions

• Utilize diagnostic equipment to diagnose issues and identify action plans

• Access on line parts manuals across OEM brands to identify and source parts

• Overall knowledge of marine drive systems including vibration troubleshooting and alignment

• Must possess own tools

• Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Diesel Technical school training required

• 5 years’ or greater experience required

• ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred

• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder carrying personal tools

• Ability to work in confined spaces

• Ability to lift 50 pounds

MINIMUM SOFT SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers’ needs

• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team

• Organizational skills are a must

• Demonstrates ability to prioritize and work unsupervised
