Position Title: Marine Mechanic Internship

Compensation/Rate: $15.00-$17.00 per hour + OT Comp, + Paid shared housing and utilities during the program.

Location: Tampa, FL

Position Summary: For over 30 years, Trans Marine Propulsion Systems (TMPS) has specialized in the service and repair of both 2- and 4-stroke European and Asian-built marine diesel engines. What once started as a small family run business working within the fishing and tug industries, TMPS now delivers its expertise to also include; engine repairs on oil and chemical tankers, container ships, ferries, cruise ships, and more to ship owners and operators around the world. From our repair shop facility in Tampa, FL. TMPS is proud to have developed into a one stop shop for all our customer's marine diesel repair and spare parts needs. TMPS has positioned itself as an industry leader with knowledge and skills to repair and service slow and medium marine diesel engines from most major manufacturers including Yanmar, MAN B&W, Wartsila, Vasa, Sulzer, Daihatsu, Bergen, Enterprise and more.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Trans Marine is recruiting interns for a 6 month program in where they will gain experience on the repair and maintenance of large ocean going vessels and their related components. This is a paid internship in which shared housing will be provided. The start date will be 1/4/2021.

The ideal candidate should be:

  • Willing to travel (both domestic and foreign) up to 75% of the year

  • Have/obtain a passport before start date

  • Be eligible for a TWIC card.

  • Have graduated or received a certificate from a technical trade school/similar program.

  • Experience may be considered in leu of education.
