Job Description: The Automation Engineering Technician/Electrician will:

  • Design, specify, procure, install, and troubleshoot various components & wiring for electrical, electronic, automation, and data acquisition systems, PLCs, and electrical cabinets.

  • Work with project engineers and welders/fabricators/systems assembly technicians. ·

  • Calibrate various equipment and instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, and flow sensors that support plant processes.

  • Perform wiring and field installation of components and infrastructure.

  • Ensure that the system is designed and installed following applicable commercial/industrial (NEC) & Electrical Safety Codes (NESC).

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required

  • Associates in Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Systems, Electronics Engineering, Automation Systems, Instrumentation & Controls, (or related major) or completion of NCDOL apprenticeship for Mechatronics or related experience preferred

  • At least five (5) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.

  • Must have working knowledge/experience with commercial/industrial power systems, such as 3 phase 208VAC systems.

  • Must be knowledgeable of electrical safety codes.

  • Electrical cabinet/panel design experience preferred.

  • Experience with Solidworks electrical preferred.
