Position Title: Mechanic

Compensation/Rate: Negotiable

Location: Southwest Harbor, Maine

Position Summary:
We are seeking Marine Mechanics to join our team in Southwest Harbor, ME. Job Summary:
Performs basic mechanical and plumbing tasks for boat repairs, utilizing various power and hand-tools. Work is completed under the close supervision of a team leader or manager.

Essential Duties:
1. Learns how to perform installation and repair of fixtures and equipment for mechanical service, plumbing and plumbing fixtures, and engines and jets.
2. Has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
3. Light maintenance of mechanical boat systems.
4. Runs fluid hoses, seacocks, fills and empties propane tanks.
5. May assist in the installation of intake and discharge fittings to provide water for plumbing and engine cooling. Places and secures plumbing fixtures/hoses (head, sinks) and refrigeration (ice box) and applies sealant.
6. Cuts holes for valves, outlets, and drives. Inserts valve and outlet fittings through hole to provide watertight fit.
7. Assists in the installation of other machinery such as motors, pumps, ventilating systems, and auxiliary systems.
8. Develops basic material lists and learns billing/charge process.
9. Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks.
10. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area.
11. All work to be performed to Hinckley Company quality standards.
12. Perform other related duties as necessary and assigned.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
Six (6) months to twelve (12) months educational experience in metal shop; maintenance or automotive field.
Basic reading, math, and writing skills.
Knowledge and operation of hand and power tools such as wrench, pliers, tape, basic mechanic tool set and portable drill
Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:
Lift and Carry over 25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs. on a frequent basis (over 40% and up to 70%).
Mechanical Installers may frequently lift or move average weight material
Frequent mental and visual attention on an intermittent basis.
Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push and pull and work in small, tight, and cramped spaces.
Requires working under somewhat disagreeable conditions on a frequent basis where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water or chemicals may be present.
