Position Summary:

An exciting opportunity has become available with an Industry leader of an HDPE plastics company who is building commercial and military vessels in the marine industry.

The company is a proven champion in the manufacture of plastic water tanks for the fire industry. In addition, they design and manufacture a variety of products for the industrial and transportation markets.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is knowledgeable in designing vessels, and can tackle new and evolving ship design by applying naval architecture principles, techniques, calculations, procedures, and criteria.

Naval Architect Responsibilities
Responsible for complex design calculations and drawing development for the construction, maintenance, and repair of maritime vessels and shipboard systems including structural, propulsion, electrical, and hydraulic mechanics.
Ensuring vessel design is in compliance with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements
Responsible for the technical management of design and analyses projects from concept to completion. 
Reviews drawings for compliance, accuracy and ease of production. 
Liaise with production and provide technical support during construction. 
Works with production and project teams to successfully implement vessel and vessel component designs. 
Requirements
Possess a B.S. degree in Naval Architecture with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in vessel design development, structural design, and auxiliary systems design for marine crafts such as patrol vessels, offshore supply vessels, tugs, and barges.
Must be familiar with ABS, CFR, USCG, SOLAS, and other applicable regulations.
Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines. 
Experienced in interacting with Production, and customer representatives. 
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, and MS Office products. 
Knowledge and application of modular construction methods. 
Strong working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities.
