Position Overview:
The Systems group is responsible for bringing Nirvana Upfitters designs to life. In this role as Systems associate you will work under the Systems Lead and alongside other members of the Systems team and interact closely with the CFF Team, and Project Management to execute the body cut-ins, wiring, exterior componentry /mechanical upgrades, and finish electrical/plumbing work required to realize the dreams of our customers in the form of a finalized van upfit.
Applicants must have experience working with hand tools, power tools (ratchets, table saw, table, jig saw, air tools etc.) and the ability to train on and use new equipment. Broad mechanical and basic electrical knowledge, great attention to detail, and a positive attitude are required. Nirvana Upfitters is an entrepreneurial organization. What we are looking for in a job candidate, for starters:
Work Monday through Thursday 7ish to 5ish, with occasional long or short days, and the occasional weekend stint and surprise day off
Precision “engineer” with high attention to detail – a great hands-on designer and builder, not someone with an advanced engineering degree (but that’s fine too)

Roles and Responsibilities:
Systems shop work -
General:
Contribute as an independent Systems team member in the manufacture of various aspects of both custom and semi-custom van conversions
Work in close communication with the CFF group to ensure integration of all CFF and Systems functionality within each conversion
Collaborate and work within the Systems team, learning and honing in skill sets of the job to increase team functionality and continually develop the capabilities of the Systems group and yourself.
Collaborate with management and team members on occasional design modifications, improvements and problem-solving
Communicate with Systems Lead to provide and clear understanding of progress within each project
Advise Systems Lead of any problems, delays, or otherwise
Test and verify all systems in conversion in preparation for final delivery.
Perform detailed cleaning of exterior of vehicles including washing, windows, tires, wheels, etc.
Perform detail cleaning of interior of vehicles including kitchen unit, wall cabinets, stove, sink, garage, passenger areas and all other interior compartments
Work alongside team members in weekly Full Shop cleaning
Mechanical:
Install, diagnose, and repair mechanical components including appliances, roof vents, hatches.
Remove and install bumpers, roof racks, light bars, bicycle carriers, external storage options, ladders, awnings, cross bars, etc.
Seal roof vents and hatches
Install, diagnose, and repair diesel and gas and propane heaters
Cut through body panels to install windows, fans, solar systems, shore power plugs, and more.
Assemble and install subcontracted components
Disassemble factory components to prepare for the conversion process. (i.e. floor, walls, headliner, seats, etc.)
Electrical:
Install electrical wiring and components as specified by manufacturer and or build documents.
Install, diagnose and repair 110V AC wiring including inverters, shore power plugs
Install, diagnose and repair 12V DC components and wiring including off road lights, interior lights, water pumps, relays, fans, batteries, charge controllers and all other DC components
Construct and install 12V DC and 110V AC wiring harnesses
Install solar arrays and charging systems
Plumbing:
Install, diagnose and repair plumbing systems including water pumps, hot water heaters, faucets, sink drains, plumbing and fittings, water tanks, drains and other plumbing components.
Install, diagnose and repair propane systems including tanks, lines, regulators, heaters, and appliances.
Working with Project Management
Communicate with PM when needed to provide and progress updates on projects
Advise PM of any problems, delays, or otherwise
Attend and contribute to Biweekly Project Update meetings
Attend Project Kick-off meetings to understand and anticipate upcoming work
Experience profile of the competitive candidate
3+ Years of related experience including 1+ year electrical, and 1+ years of plumbing .
Demonstrated Mechanical aptitude with Hand/Power tools
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams
Experience reading shop drawings and 2D design drawings
Experience templating, measuring and fitting standard and custom components to existing manufactured products (van walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, seats, etc.)
Experience fabricating with wood and metal components (cabinets, frames, etc)
Experience installing finished custom and off-the-shelf components per design drawings and documentation
Experience working in a small team
Recommended Skills
Knowledge of use, safety and maintenance of power and hand tools for woodworking (table saw, miter saw, circular saw, jigsaw, router, etc.)
Knowledge of use, safety and maintenance of power and hand tools for metalworking (angle grinder, bench grinder, horizontal bandsaw, etc) (welding knowledge a bonus)
Knowledge of and experience working with standard and premium building materials and finishes (plywood, dimensional lumber, aluminum, steel sections, high-pressure laminate, vinyl, tile, etc)
Basic knowledge of electrical (12V, 110V)
Basic Plumbing knowledge
Basic knowledge of automotive systems
