Position Title: Yacht Club Manager

Position Summary:
Sandy Bay Yacht Club seeks an experienced club manager to take over from the current retiring manager.
The club operates from Memorial Day through mid-October with off-season social events. Gross revenues
are $300,000. The job is a full-time management position with extraordinary hours in June, July and
August.
The SBYC club manager manages and oversees the day-to-day operation of the club year-round under the
policies and regulations established by the Board of Governors. The responsibilities of the manager are to:
• Perform administrative and office duties that support day-to-day club operation
• Implement policies, rules, and regulations established by the board of governors
• Report problems to the board of governors
• Support the board of governors in the seasonal hiring of staff
• Train new hires
• Manage and conduct performance reviews of employees
• Purchase supplies for the operation and maintenance of the facility
• Monitor club property for proper condition and safety.
• Supervise and perform maintenance and repairs of club property
• Supervise contractors hired by the board of governors
• Ensure that club activities are within policy parameters
• Maintain the content of the SBYC website
• Provide support to the Treasurer and Secretary, club committees, and Junior Sailing Program
• Prepare and present annual budget proposals.
• Attend and report to meetings of the board of governors
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The manager must have:
• Experience in managing a membership-driven organization, preferably a yacht or sailing club
• The ability to work with and support a volunteer board
• A professional management appearance and presence
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and people management skills
• Strong operational management skills
• General and boat maintenance skills
• Resourcefulness in problem resolution
• Proficiency in office and accounting software applications
• USCG license and related credentials (1st Aid, CPR, TWIC, Drug Testing)
• Massachusetts 3A Hoisting License
