ACCREDITATION
In 1987, The Landing School became the first school of its type to be accredited by The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), which is listed by the United States Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency under the provisions of Chapter 33, Title 38, U.S. Code and subsequent legislation.
Notice Regarding ACCSC Accreditation Status
The Landing School is pleased to share an important accreditation update with its students, prospective students, alumni, faculty, staff, and industry partners.
At its June 2026 meeting, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) voted to remove The Landing School from Probation and place the School on Warning. This action reflects the substantial progress made by the School in addressing concerns previously identified by the Commission and recognizes the institution's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and student success.
The Landing School remains fully accredited by ACCSC and continues to operate normally. The School remains authorized to enroll and educate students, deliver its academic programs, provide student services, and fulfill its educational mission. This action does not affect the validity of students' education, credentials, or future enrollment opportunities.
As part of the Warning action, ACCSC identified several areas in which the School must provide additional documentation and demonstrate continued compliance with accreditation standards. These areas include administrative processes, student achievement reporting, employment verification documentation, scholarship administration, attendance monitoring, faculty credential verification, advisory committee activities, marketing practices, enrollment agreements, and catalog disclosures.
The School has already begun addressing these matters and is actively working with ACCSC to provide additional information and demonstrate the effectiveness of its corrective actions. The Commission is expected to review the School's progress at its August 2026 meeting.
The Landing School views the accreditation process as an important opportunity to strengthen institutional effectiveness and enhance the student experience. The School remains committed to providing exceptional hands-on education, preparing graduates for successful careers in the marine industry, and preserving the legacy of craftsmanship, innovation, and excellence that has defined The Landing School for nearly five decades.
The School is also encouraged by the significant progress already achieved and remains confident in its ability to successfully address the remaining items identified by the Commission. The dedication of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry partners continues to play a vital role in that success.
As required by Section VII(K)(6) of ACCSC's Rules of Process and Procedure, this notice is being provided to current and prospective students. Additional information regarding the Commission's action, including the Commission's published summary of the Warning, may be found on ACCSC’s website.
