Position Title: Composite Tech/ Coatings Specialist
Compensation/Rate: 30.00 to 40.00 per/hour based on experience.
Job description: Composite Technician/ Coatings Specialist:
As a composite tech and coating specialist your responsibilities will include cosmetic
and structural repairs. You should have a fundamental understanding of composite
techniques and a high standard for detail and finish quality. Coatings knowledge should
include gelcoat, Awlgrip and other common single and multi part topcoats.
Responsibilities:
• Structural composite repairs from diagnosis to completion above and below the
waterline.
• Job planning including collaborating on estimates.
• Work with various materials including fiberglass, carbon fiber, resins, paints, marine
plywood, and hardwood.
• Shaping and fairing repairs.
• Ensuring all work is up to the company’s standards.
• Use a variety of power and hand tools safely
• Maintain speciality tools and respirators so they operate as designed
• Must be able to wear respirator/ breathing apparatus for long periods of time.
• Work alongside other team members as well as individually.
• Keep track of time and materials.
• Experience spraying topcoats is preferred but not required
Education/ Qualifications:
• Understanding of composite repair techniques
• Knowledge of both Epoxy and Vinyl Ester resins
• High attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
• Self-motivated and dependable
• Comfortable working in a dynamic boatyard and shop environment.
