Position outline: The Drafter / CNC Programmer drafts vessel components to meet customer, company, and regulatory specifications, and supports the Production Department by programming/nesting CNC cut files. Reports To Engineering Manager. Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Duties: Join the production engineering team with tasks/outputs including:

  • 2D drawing & 3D modeling of vessels, parts, and components; marine systems design and schematics; weight studies; product and plan reviews before, during, and after construction.

  • Conduct CNC programming tasks: produce material takeoffs for material orders; nest parts for optimal cutting time and efficient material usage; select and/or program cutting parameters for the CNC machine.

  • Participate in regular/required meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Rhinoceros® 6 proficiency (other CAD program knowledge will be considered an asset).

  • MS Office proficiency 18+ years of age and legally authorized to work in the US

  • Mastercam and/or Alphacam proficiency preferred.

  • Knowledge of / ability to perform naval architectural calculations preferred.

  • Familiarity with marine design regulations (e.g. ABYC, USCG) preferred.

Workspace:

  • Environment Work is performed in an office adjacent to a metal manufacturing environment. Noise level is occasionally moderate.

  • Manual dexterity is required to use computer, phone, and peripherals.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
