Position Summary:

Job Title: Laminator

Job Summary:
Prepare and use resin saturated fiberglass panels and molds to produce and bond together hulls, decks, soles, and other yacht components for further assembly.
Employee Duties & Responsibilities
1. Measure and cut materials to the required dimensions using hand and/or power tools.
2. Mix resin and catalyst in proper proportions and apply by hand or with spray gun.
3. Clean, wax and prepare molds for use.
4. Grind fiberglass to required finish.
5. Paint finished surfaces with Gelcoat and/or paint.
6. Perform rough carpentry tasks on fiberglass and structural components.
7. Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
8. Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, ladder and stair climbing and occasional crawling, twisting and lying.
9. Materials needing to be lifted and/or carried may weigh up to 50 pounds.
10. Work effectively as part of a team providing high quality Customer Service.
11. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including and not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and or a respirator may need to be
12. worn when and if handling hazardous products or working in hazardous environments.
13. Maintain and participates in keeping personal work area, shop and tools clean and safe.
14. Must maintain an excellent attendance record following all company policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook and safety rules.
15. Will be expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs.
Minimum Skill Requirements:
1. Candidates for this job may be asked to demonstrate specialty skills outlined under job functions.
2. Requires basic levels of mathematical, reading, writing and communication skills necessary to successfully accomplish the job description, skills and ability requirements as outlined above.
3. Requires visual acuity necessary and appropriate to perform all job duties and requirements as listed.
4. Requires auditory acuity capable of hearing a forklift back-up alarm, moving vehicle horns, or other safety alarms and warning signals.
Physical Requirements:
1. All duties require frequent sitting, walking, standing, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, and the repetitive and fine manipulation of hands for simple grasping, pushing, and pulling, as well as occasional sitting and stair climbing.
2. The employee is occasionally required lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
3. Expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs.
Other Preferred Skills / Abilities:
1. Prefer 1 to 3 years’ experience doing like duties in similar environment.
2. Prior work experience in Lamination; or prior work experience with fiberglass, resins, and catalysts.
Environmental Conditions:
Exposed to dust, fumes, and some outside weather conditions. May be exposed to acetone, resin, fiberglass, putties, glues, cleaners.
Safety Requirements:
1. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including and not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and or a respirator may need to be worn when handling hazardous products or working in hazardous environments.
2. Maintain and participates in keeping personal work area, shop and tools clean and in proper working order to ensure safe working environment.
3. Hazardous materials are used in the production process. Employees must follow all safety guidelines and know evacuation procedures, the location of first aid stations and MSDS locations in areas they work or visit on Company property.
