Job Description: JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Technicians will be responsible for:
• Doing quality work as efficiently as possible, in a timely manner, in accordance with customer needs and company schedules
• Assuring that proper diagnosis is done before work starts on a job
• Make recommendations and take action to reduce costs in the maintenance and repair function

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
• The Technician reports directly to the Shop Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

REQUIREMENTS

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements for this position include a High School Diploma(or GED) and at least 4 years of experience as a leisure and commercial boat Technician.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The position of Technician requires general Technician skills as it pertains to their department. Qualified persons must possess the most proficient skills, knowledge, and abilities to efficiently complete the most difficult repair or maintenance tasks. In addition, this position requires an individual who can communicate effectively with others and has the ability to perform tasks on time and control costs on a daily basis. This position also requires that the Technician has good diagnostic skills and remains up-to- date on the latest technology.


BENEFITS

Portland Yacht Services offers benefits, which are available beginning on the first of the month following an employee’s 30-day introductory period. Part time employees may be eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis.

Vacation
Full and part time employees are eligible for paid vacation after 6 months as listed below. Employees accrue vacation on a basis determined by how many hours they work per week. These days are based on a 40-hour week over 52 weeks. Vacation time must be accrued before it can be used.



Holidays
All full time employees are eligible for Holiday pay. The following days are recognized as paid holidays: If these days fall on a weekend, Portland Yacht Services will assign a weekday to be taken as the Holiday.

Health Insurance
Employees are eligible for health benefits after 60 days of employment starting from 1st of the month, if first day of employment begins in the middle of the month; the 1st of the following month begins 60 day process. Should you opt out of insurance after the 60 day eligibility window, you will not be eligible again until open enrollment which occurs at the 1st of the New Year.
Should you leave your employment at Portland Yacht Services, you may be entitled to continue your health insurance benefits through Aetna. For additional information, please contact the office manager.
