Job Roles & Duties
• Lifting Operations: Primary responsibility for the safe operation and maintenance of 35-ton Travelift and heavy-duty equipment. This includes the hauling, launching, and yard-side transport of vessels across various weight classes.
• Vessel Support & Staging: Execution of precise blocking, shoring, and sling placement. The operator ensures all vessels are structurally supported during storage and positioned to optimize yard space and workflow.
• Safety & Inspection Protocols: Performance of mandatory pre-lift inspections on all slings, straps, and lifting hardware. The operator is responsible for identifying and reporting mechanical wear or safety hazards prior to equipment engagement.
• Interdepartmental Coordination: Direct communication with yard management, service technicians, and dock staff to prioritize vessel movements. This role requires clear signaling and coordination with spotters to ensure incident-free transitions.
• Environmental & Facility Maintenance: Oversight of hull pressure washing and the maintenance of a hazard-free work environment. All operations must align with "Goal Zero" safety standards and hazardous waste compliance protocols.
• Tide & Weather Integration: Strategic execution of hauls and launches according to Duxbury’s tidal cycles. The operator must monitor and adapt to shifting wind, weight distribution variables, and weather conditions.
About You
• Technical Experience: Ten plus years of experience. A documented background in operating marina lifting equipment or industrial heavy machinery. Candidates must possess a functional understanding of vessel hull geometry, weight distribution, and rigging physics.
• Operational Discipline: A professional approach defined by high situational awareness and adherence to established maritime best practices. This role requires the ability to work outdoors in variable New England weather conditions.
• Professional Reliability: A track record of punctuality and the capacity for extended hours during peak seasonal transitions or storms. Candidates must work effectively within a small, interdependent team environment. Excellent communication skills are a must.
• Credentials: A valid driver’s license is required; A valid operator’s license is required (1A & 3A); a CDL is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (8-hour shifts). Note: Seasonal demand may require additional hours such as Saturday mornings.
