Description: Production Engineer

Position Overview - The Production Engineer designs vessels to meet customer and production specifications. This position works closely with the Plant Manager and Production to resolve any engineering related concerns. This is an hourly position. Relationships - Works directly with the Production Engineering Manager, Plant Manager, Proposal Engineering Manager, Aluminum Boat Builder Specialist, Production Leads, Contract Specialist and Quality Manager.

Essential Job Functions:
• Analyze proposal sketches, specifications, related data and drawings to determine vessel arrangements.
• Plan and create engineering drawings according to project requirements.
• Review vessel design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and regulatory specifications.
• Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
• Evaluate design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. • Approve non-conformance disposition as appropriate. • Provide support to the production area.
• Using complex computer models, design all elements (e.g., structure, equipment, systems, and their components) of vessels to integrate the basic design features and the desired characteristics of the boat as a whole.
• Attend builder’s sea trial, making recommendations as appropriate.
• Perform general engineering and structural calculations as well as naval architectural calculations
• Check technical accuracy of work
• Communicate with the sales and production teams as needed, troubleshooting problems related to engineering
• Create CNC cut files.
• Attend and contribute to required meetings

Requirements
• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 2 years of experience in boat design or equivalent education.
• Knowledge of aluminum fabrication • Exceptional computer skills including Rhino and AutoCAD software
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress. • Strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Strong interpersonal skills; a team player and independent worker.
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications/Eligibility Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must have current vehicle liability insurance.
• Must provide and maintain a personal vehicle for use during employee working hours.

Preferred Qualifications
• Aluminum boat design experience a plus
