Position Title: Model Builder/Composites Technician

Compensation/Rate: Varies with experience, entry level ~$45k per year

Job Description: CACI's marine prototype and model-making facility is looking for an entry-level (or higher) composites technician to work and train in its precision model shop building scaled FRP models of Navy ship designs. CACI's Advanced Marine Model Shop has been the Navy's premier model builder for over 40 years.

We build precision models up to 50 feet in length, that are tested at the Carderock hydromechanics laboratory outside of Washington, D.C., and other government-owned facilities. We are also a precision CNC machine shop that develops R&D marine prototypes and test equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineers and Designers, drawing on their knowledge and experience for the fabrication of marine propulsors, prototype vehicles, and associated lab instrumentation and hardware. The ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as possessing a sound knowledge of best practices in composite and boat fabrication and applying them to meet project and quality requirements is a must. In addition to practical hands-on experience, the ideal candidate will be ambitious and willing to pursue self-study in areas outside their expertise.

Job Description: We are looking to add one more position at our small wooden boatyard in midcoast Maine. The position involves all aspects of wooden boat maintenance, repair, and new construction, including carpentry, painting, rigging, and mechanical systems work. The position also includes maintenance of our buildings and equipment. We are a small company where everyone enjoys a wide variety of work, so a good attitude and the ability to work well as a team are crucial.
