U.S. Citizenship
Education: Post-high-school education in Computer Aided Design.
10(+) Years of experience developing 3-D designs and 2-D drawings to commercial standards including (5+) years of relevant design, testing, construction or operations/maintenance of small craft/boat (ie: high performance yachts, custom sport fishing boats, production boats, commercial, military and law enforcement vessels)
Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and practice.
In-depth understand of a required form, function, or underlying design principles of a concept and the ability identify the critical design/geometry elements.
Demonstrated working knowledge of 3-D geometry, surface and solid modelling Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software such as Rhino, Inventor, Multisurf, Maxsurf, and/or Solidworks.
Demonstrated experience conceptualizing and developing artistic renderings of boats and craft to commercial standard using Renderings applications such as Flamingo or VRay.

Position Title: Marine Mechanic

Compensation/Rate: Very Competitive

Location: Ventura Harbor, CA

Job Description: Derecktor Ventura Inc, located at the mouth of Ventura Harbor, CA is looking for a highly skilled marine mechanic to install, service and repair marine gas and diesel engines, as well as hydraulic, fuel, and water systems. Knowledge of electrical systems would be valuable as well. A leading candidate will be motivated, organized, devoted to quality and thoroughly enjoy fixing boats and making them seaworthy.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and alignment of marine engines & transmissions

  • Driveline service and repair

  • Servicing and repairs on inboard gas and diesel engines; knowledge of outboards would be valuable (but not critical).

  • Conducting plumbing, intake and thru-hull repairs.

  • Troubleshooting engine and electrical problems.

  • Replacing broken or worn-out engine parts.

  • Installing and repairing hydraulic and steering systems, including bow thrusters

  • Repairing electrical AC and DC systems

  • Completing service records and repair documents.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, with additional mechanical training

  • Certification in engine service and repair

  • Proven work experience as a marine mechanic.

  • Knowledge of marine engine and electrical auxiliary systems.

  • Knowledge of boat steering systems.

  • Knowledge of propulsion components, including:

    • Cutlass bearing

    • Stuffing Box, PSS, struts

    • Engine & shaft alignment

  • Basic machining experience

  • Knowledge of marine hydraulic systems and related parts.

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to work at sea
