Position Title: Assistant Boatbuilder

Compensation/Rate: Skill dependent

Job Description: The Liberty Aviation Museum is looking for an individua to participate in the restoration/rebuilding of our PT-728, a world war II PT Boat. The vessel is currently undergoing a complete reconstruction under the direction of a full time boatbuilder. We need an additional individual to participate in the project on a full time basis. At the moment new chines, gunwales, frame, and keel are being fabricated and installed in the boat. After framing is complete, the hull will be replanked with 2 layers of mahogany. The work is taking place in our "boathouse" constructed several years ago on the museum property. A full wood shop is in place to support the project. After the hull is planked, installation of mechanical, electrical, and navigation sysytems will take place. 
After the restoration work is completed Liberty Aviation Museum will be "barnstorming " the Great Lakes, providing the public with an opportunity to ride on a truly unique vessel. The boatbuilding positions could evolve into roles involving the ongoing operations and maintenance of the vessel, as well as other areas of operation of the museum.
