BPYC is located in Southern Maine between Kennebunkport and Portland. We are a small and family oriented private yacht club. We offer competitive pay and housing/parking directly at the yacht club. We value teamwork, seamanship, and enthusiasm for teaching kids.
About the Job:
The Sailing Instructor is responsible for teaching and assisting in several classes of the BPYC Junior Sailing Program (ages 5-17). This will include classes at multiple skill levels and periodic inter-club regattas within Southern Maine. The Sailing Instructor reports to the Junior Program Director and the club’s Manager.
Specific Job Accountabilities:
- Fun!
- Attend instructor orientation
- Develop lesson plans to achieve curriculum objectives for classes that you lead
- Attend and help execute special events/regattas
- Record-keeping - performance & attendance on all students
- Assist with boat & equipment maintenance
- Teamwork w/ other club staff
- Promote & support the overall image of the Club, Officers, Trustees, staff & programs
Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of small boat sailing skills, especially seamanship and sportsmanship.
- He/she must be a minimum of 18 years old
- Experience and interest in working with children in a safe and caring environment to develop a lifelong interest in sailing.
- Must be a self-starter as this is a flexible program and instructor input is essential
- US Sailing Certification Level 1 and current CPR & First Aid Certificates are required
