Position Title: Principal Designer / CAD Specialist

Compensation/Rate: $75-85K 

Job Description: Summary of Responsibilities
As the team leader on a multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for developing functional 3-D CAD models, renderings and 2-D engineering drawings to support all conventional and novel aspects of marine vessel design. 

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Prepare accurate and detailed designs, free form surface models and/or drawings based on concept sketches, photographs, or clearly stated functional requirements or appearances.
• Assisting naval architects and engineers in the design of boats and craft and providing solutions by adapting existing criteria or creating new techniques or procedures.
• Developing and maintaining computer aided design systems and processes regarding software tools and configuration to meet the demands of engineering products. 
• Coordinating efforts and experiences to recommend personnel and task estimates consistent with projects.
• Develop and maintain CAD Standards and Procedures in conjunction with other designers to improve product quality and efficiency.
• Identifies correct software and modelling tools and techniques for complex designs and provides guidance to other CAD team members. 
• Supports CAD team members in developing task time estimates for work completion. Provides mentorship and guidance to CAD team members to ensure agreed task targets are met.
• Identifies and organizes CAD training necessary to meet project development requirements.

Candidate / Position Requirements
• U.S. Citizenship
• Education: Post-high-school education in Computer Aided Design. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of Computer Aided Design education.
• 10(+) Years of experience developing 3-D designs and 2-D drawings to commercial standards including 
(5+) years of relevant design, testing, construction or operations/maintenance of small craft.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and practice. 
• In-depth understand of a required form, function, or underlying design principles of a concept and the ability identify the critical design/geometry elements. 
• Demonstrated working knowledge of 3-D geometry, surface and solid modelling Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software such as Rhino, Inventor, Multisurf, Maxsurf, and/or Solidworks.
• Demonstrated experience conceptualizing and developing artistic renderings of boats and craft to commercial standard using Renderings applications such as Flamingo or VRay.

• Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.
• Strong Time Management and Organization Skills as an Independent Contributor. 
• Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a Collaborative multidisciplinary team.
• Previous experience coordinating the work of designer drafts people.

General Position Requirements:
• Travel: Occasional travel may be required
• Working Conditions: Office environment with modern equipment. Ninety percent (90%) of time spent sitting.
