About the Job:
The Entry Level Marine Electronics Technician supports the installation, configuration, and maintenance of marine navigation systems on a wide range of vessels within the Cool Boats service region. Working under the Lead Marine Electronics Technician, you will assist with the installation, configuration, and customer training for chart plotters, radar, autopilot, depth sounders, GPS, and solar/battery systems.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys technical, hands‑on work and wants to build a career in the marine industry. Cool Boats will provide structured training and exposure to leading brands including Garmin, Raymarine, and Simrad/B&G.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation: With guidance from the Lead Marine Electronics Technician, must be able to follow instructions, interpret diagrams and wiring schematics for the installation of marine specific electronic navigation solutions.
Diagnostics and Repair: Utilize diagnostic equipment to evaluate and replace faulty components or devices as needed.
Configuration: Utilize a computer to test equipment and follow detailed instructions to configure and evaluate devices.
Communication and Customer Training: Provide customers with a system overview and device specific training. Must have a professional and courteous attitude.
Product Lines: Possess knowledge and comfort working with Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad/B&G, and other types of marine related products. Training will be provided.
Training: Participate in periodic factory or industry training (company funded).
Requirements:
Physical Expectations: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, and work in confined spaces that will require kneeling, stooping, and crouching for extended periods of time.
Working Environment: Must be comfortable working in a variety of conditions. Working aboard marine vessels can expose technicians to humid, wet, and extreme heat, and cold conditions; fumes; potential exposure to chemicals and moving mechanical systems. Must be comfortable with heights and operating ladders.
Positive Attitude: A courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with customers, other trade professionals, marina staff, and colleagues.
Other Requirements:
Must hold a valid US Drivers License with a clean driving record and
Ability to operate a large service vehicle (Transit Van) safely and professionally.
Basic computer skills to research solutions, create documentation and use industry specific applications.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Marine services industry experience a plus
Technical/Trade School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of power and hand tool use
Basic mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with reading schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams
