Position Title: Director of Education

Compensation/Rate: Commensurate with Experience

Job Description: Director of Education at the Landing School. This position is a full-time, permanent position, reporting to the President of the School.

Objective:  The Director of Education is responsible for the overall educational experience at the school. He/she will oversee the academic offerings of The Landing School and manage the faculty in five instructional programs: Wooden Boat Building, Composite Boat Building, Marine Systems, Yacht Design, and Boatyard Management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

In fulfillment of the objectives, the Director of Education will:

·         Manage and assess the academic programs.

·         Supervise faculty in curriculum development, educational technology, and advise educators in enhancing instructional styles.

·         Coordinate faculty professional development activities.

·         Develop, coordinate, and schedule post- and pre-school year responsibilities.

·         Assist faculty in developing strategies for individual students academic and professional success.

·         Assist in establishing effective student-faculty relationships

·         Manage student evaluations of faculty and programs.

·         Conduct annual performance reviews of the faculty.

·         Plan and chair weekly faculty meetings

·         Advise students leading to successful academic, social, and emotional resolutions.

·         Participate in the admissions process.

·         Serve as the school’s Registrar.

·         Facilitate monthly meetings of the Student Representatives.

·         Coordinate the school’s ACCSC accreditation efforts, including the preparation of reports and applications for changes.

·         Coordinate the preparation of the Self-Evaluation Report (SER) for the school’s 5-year accreditation cycle.

·         Monitor and implement initiatives outlined in the school’s Institutional Assessment and Improvement Plan (IAIP).

·         Serve as the point of contact for federal IPEDS reporting.

·         Plan and coordinate semi-annual Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings and track school responses to recommendations.

·         Prepare weekly management reports for the President and quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees, including updates on faculty, student, and curriculum issues.

·         Support faculty and VP Finance in the preparation of annual program budgets.

·         Support President in developing the annual academic calendar.

·         Other tasks deemed necessary and in alignment with the overall objectives of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or better

  • Educational administration experience and competence in managing a faculty of up to 12 individuals..

  • Demonstrated management experience.

  • Experience in a Career Technical Education (CTE) environment is a plus.

  • Familiarity with marine trades and the boating industry is a plus.

  • Familiarity with applicable state and Federal regulations including, but not limited to, FERPA and Title IX.

  • Familiarity with special education strategies, policies, and regulations is a plus.
