We are seeking an experienced fitter/welder with the ability to read blue prints, perform accurate layout, and fit structural plate and pipe.  He/she must be competent working with steel, stainless, aluminum, and bronze.  All position welding in stick, MIG and TIG is required.  Familiarity with both pleasure and commercial boats is desired.  Must be able to work in a team and have good communication skills. As much of the work is performed in an outdoor setting, he/she must be able to walk to and from the work area, and be exposed to prevailing weather conditions.  He/she must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and climb stairways or ladders. Safety equipment is required.  A demonstrated ability to estimate, lead a crew and maintain exceptional customer service is a plus.

Port Townsend Shipwrights are seeking to hire a marine systems technician with a strong background in diesel mechanics and ability to service the systems commonly found on modern vessels.  We need a motivated person with the ability to self-direct.  Familiarity with refrigeration and hydraulics is a plus, as fishing vessels comprise a large part of our business.  The ability to design exhaust and fuel systems, help with engine installation, and a working knowledge of pleasure and commercial boats is desired.   Must be able to work in a team and have good communication skills. Seasonal Employment Dates: Mid-April through the end of May, the hours will be nominal.  The Tuesday following Labor Day through the end of September, ensuring coverage on Saturday and Sunday is required. The month of October, the hours will be nominal, on an as needed basis. Key dates that the Club manager will be required but not limited to: Spring Clean-up day,  Boon Island Race, AYC Lobsterbake, Founders day Race, Annual meeting & Fall Clean-up day.

Position Summary: The Club Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of all Club activities, including waterfront, house, and the maintenance of all Club assets. The Club Manager will carry out his or her duties in such a manner as to provide the best possible service to Club members, guests and transient boaters while maintaining Club by-laws, rules, regulations and policies.

Areas of Responsibility: General: Formulate and execute, along with Board Of Governors (BOG) and relevant committees, the annual hiring process for Stewards, Head Sailing Instructor and sailing staff. Provide support as needed to the Sailing Program. Supervision and training of the Stewards and Sailing Staff; develop annual goals and expectations; conduct annual performance reviews.

Process time-sheets for all hourly employees (Stewards and sailing instructors) and forward to the Club Treasurer. Provide direction to Stewards on a day to day basis, including scheduling, assignments and duties. Post weekly schedules for Stewards and Club Manager. These schedules must be sent to the Treasurer on a weekly basis. Order and maintain inventory for all supplies necessary for house, waterfront, and sailing program. Maintain invoice Log Receive and account for all income from merchandise sales, guest dockage, member slip use by those members not assigned a slip, etc. on a monthly basis. Manage Club rental reservations and process deposits and rental fees. As requested by the Commodore, attend BOG meetings. Act as a liaison and attend (when requested) Club House/Building and waterfront committees; keeping Committee Chairs aware of any issues requiring attention. Waterfront: Arrange waterfront training for Stewards and Sailing staff - safety, launch operation, boat tie up, radio protocol, etc. No AYC personnel may operate the launch or AYC Boston Whaler without prior approval from the Club Manager. Manage transient boater facility usage including reservations, arrivals, payment and orientation of House use. Ensure VHF radio communication is always available, prompt and courteous. Manage member use of docks for those not assigned slips. Provide assistance (when needed) to Stewards during busy periods. Coordinate/facilitate weekend launch service. Manage cleaning, maintenance and repair of docks and waterfront area. Responsible for the AYC tools and equipment located in the tool shed. Ensure all AYC motorized boats have been registered. Coordinate House calendar for members. Identify House improvement projects for physical plant including parking lot. Oversee/perform small house improvement projects requiring light labor such as painting or cleaning. Ensure the lawn and exterior grounds are maintained. Identify House equipment needs/replacement for Committee Chairs. Develop and maintain House inventory system. Manage cleaning, maintenance and of the Club House. Ensure Club house has adequate cleaning supplies, toilet paper and paper towels.
