Safe Harbor Kittery Point has two waterfront facilities in Kittery and Eliot, Maine that service, repair and store power and sailing vessels ranging from 18' to +50'. We are looking for an experienced Yard Hand / Equipment Operator to join our team. The Yard Hand / Equipment Operator is responsible for moving, hauling, and launching all vessels on location, as well as assisting with carrying out tasks required to successfully achieve the service department objectives. The successful candidate would be offered the opportunity to acquire additional skill sets within the boatyard and marina operations. Basic boat handling skills are required; ability to operate power and sail vessels is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to: forklift, travellift, and hydraulic trailer to move, haul, and launch boats
• Be able to operate machinery efficiently, effectively and demonstrate safe handling of vessels
• Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure operational
• Perform general boat maintenance and service work including, but not limited to: pressure washing, buffing & waxing, bottom painting, zinc replacement, etc.
• Grounds/facilities maintenance and marina cleanliness
• Availability to work overtime when required
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor & assist fellow crew members as needed

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
• Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area
• Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1-2 years’ relevant experience preferred
• Forklift experience preferred
• Basic boat handling skills required

Safe Harbor Kittery Point is looking for a skilled painter to join our team. If you have some hands-on experience with marine paint applications, we’d love to hear from you. Experience with laying up fiberglass is a plus as are any other general boat yard skills. We have a fleet of storage boats in an inside heated environment that require a wide range of cosmetic work throughout the winter months, and a much larger fleet of boats that require similar service throughout the rest of the year.

Safe Harbor Kittery Point is seeking an experience Outboard Technician to join our team. Applicant’s desired background to include outboard engine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and repowers, as well as a familiarity with related vessel systems. Safe Harbor Kittery Point has two waterfront facilities in Kittery and Eliot, Maine that service, repair, and store recreational and commercial vessels, power and sail, ranging from 18' to +50'. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, running gear, and navigational equipment
• Install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components
• Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including: acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
• Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems
• Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to: electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), gas and diesel engines
• Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets
• Must possess own tools
• Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

[Summary]

Bring boats in/out from moorings and slips
Bend on and unbend sails. Install and remove canvas
Bring masts in and out of storage
Assist stepping and unstepping masts
Inspect boats for worn or broken equipment
Keep a clean and organized work area
Miscellaneous rigging projects such as working aloft, servicing winches, replacing equipment, cleaning gear, etc.
Provide additional support to the rigging foreman and/or the yard manager as requested
Work with heavy equipment, crane, travelift, fork truck, etc.
